Home Groups

Home groups meet fortnightly but the programme also brings them together once a month in the parish hall. One is bound to be at just the right place and time for you.

Most of the homegroups are now following the 'Sunday Plus' structure, whereby the preacher at the 10:45 Parish Communion service provides notes on the sermon and questions for further discussion.

Anyone interested in joining a homegroup would be extremely welcome. For contact details of individual homegroups, or any particular questions, please contact the Church Office.

You can read about the Summer programme of homegroups (all about building a people of faith) in this flyer written by our rector, Peter Chantry.

Monday 2.00pm, Rectory Close. Led by Isabel Wells

This group meets at a time which suits those who prefer not to venture out in the evening. It is open to anyone and always meets in central Nantwich. The group doesn't necessarily follow the 'syllabus' used by others as it is specifically a Bible group taking passages from scripture for study and discussion.

Monday 8.00pm, St Joseph's Way. Led by Dot Roxby

This is a new home group set up to discuss the issues facing Christians today. It has made use of the book A new framework for Christian living by Adrian Smith. Reader Dot Roxby is aided in group leadership by husband Rev Gordon.

Tuesday 7.30pm, in various locations. Led by Jenny Clews

This group has its origins in the 2005 confirmation and Alpha group of which Jenny was a part. There is discussion and prayer generally followed by a light supper finishing at about 10.00pm. The group so enjoy each other's company that they carried on meeting through the summer break. Jenny sees the home group as a really important way of strengthening the church community as much as the faith of members.

Tuesday 8.00pm, Rookery Drive. Led by Gill Appleton

Hostess Andrea Howell-Jones explains that this group embraces members of the 9.30am and 10.45am as well as other Sunday congregations. She describes the group as 'lively and always welcoming to newcomes'. The sense of fellowship is such that during the summer break they had a shared meal (everyone bringing a dish) to keep in touch and to supplement the more informal and social aspects of the home group.

Tuesday 8.30pm, Passage and a Pint at the Railway Hotel. Led by the Rev Tim Robinson

The home group that is at home in a pub - a way of witnessing to the Christian faith of its members that is less than usual. There are men and women among the regulars and they enjoy discussions that never fail to be helpful.

Thursday 8.00pm, Brunner Grove. Led by John Munks

A group blessed with very hospitable hosts in Anne and Jim McKay and some talented singers, so they can and do sing as well as having Bible readings and prayers. "No topic is barred and people can ask any questions", says John.

Thursday 8.00pm, various locations in Nantwich & Stapeley. Led by Eileen Jones and Nigel Winzer

A group of men and women of different ages brought together in "friendship, faith and fellowship". Nigel says sometimes the topics are very thought provoking and Eileen likes it when people have strong opinions.

Thursday 8.00pm, Stapeley. Led by Caroline & Peter Bennett

According to Jackie, "This is the rebel group. We don't always study the common syllabus!". Last year they discussed the 'Ten Commandments in the 21st Century' (based on the book 'Ten' by J. John). The aim is to promote debate and help everyone to deepen their faith. Jackie emphasises the importance of the trust that builds up and the confidentiality in the group. Like John Munks, she sees one of the home groups' aims as being to build up and then divide, so that more can be brought together among friends in the congenial surroundings of a home.
